Meet Jenny

The vast majority of what a wedding planner does goes on “behind the scenes” of the wedding
day itself. So, who is the heart and soul behind “Storybook Love Events”? It’s me-Jenny
Savage. Nice to meet you!

Like is says in the intro, I am a wedding nerd for sure. I honestly never get tired of talking about
weddings, my adorable puppy Cooper, and the joy that my close personal friend Taylor Swift
brings to my life. Definitely worth mentioning that I am married to a fantastic and supportive guy,
Tom, who has helped my own happily ever after come true for the past 19 years. He also puts
up with random piles of wedding décor in various corners of our house, literally endless loading
and unloading of said décor from our vehicles, and usually stays up late on Saturday nights till I
get home from weddings cause he knows I will need to de-brief and share at least a few details
from the day to vent off my remaining energy. We have 3 wild kids together-2 teen boys (send
snacks and air fresheners) and a 10 year old daughter (the literal definition of “extra”, but I think
she gets that from her momma).

How did we get here? Well, I have seriously always been a planner-I think my mom might still
have notebook pages from my early years (like before I knew which direction the swoop of my
“J” went) where I made checklists for my chores. I was also the default “bossy” one all through
grade school-dreaming up plans, projects and clubs for all my friends. I channeled that
leadership energy into a teaching degree (high school English-everyone’s favorite) and then
ended up in Colorado with aforementioned love of my life. While I waited to find a teaching job, I
picked up work at a private country club. Attention to detail and some eldest daughter over-
achieving eventually led me to picking up the slack as they switched between Food & Beverage
managers-the person responsible for weddings at the club. That experience, plus my natural
gifts, meant that I got asked to be in charge of church and family events. When my niece got
engaged, she asked me to help her plan her wedding, which was a whole hearted “Yes!”. In the
midst of helping her plan, my mother in law one day said to me, “You could do this as a job!”
and that was the spark I needed. I heard those words and a dream began to take shape-I
haven’t stopped dreaming or planning since!

My first few weddings were for family-my niece and then my two younger sisters, who
“graciously” allowed (aka-I steamrolled) me to help plan their weddings. I credit those early
experiences with the foundational love I have towards my couples. I learned how to plan a
wedding and care for a couple from a place of authentic love for a dear family member, and my
brain & heart never stopped feeling that way about every wedding since. This also created one
of my foundational values in my business-I passionately want the parents, siblings and best
friends of my couples to be able to enjoy the special day…not work at it!

And here we are, 16 years and well over 100 weddings later. While my expertise has increased
by 1 million percent and my wedding stories are the life of the party, I have never lost that spark
and joy I felt when I realized all my over-thinking, list making, bossy energy, and creativity could
find their own happily ever after. My team will tell you I rarely let anyone else be the last to fluff
the bride’s dress before she heads down the aisle (my absolute favorite moment of every
wedding), but I also rarely let anything disrupt my couples while they are in their “bubble of bliss”
(IYKYK). Each couple is still an honor and a joy and a privilege I don’t ever take for granted.
